Create My Profile
1. Create an Artist Account
Click on the “login” button in the menu bar at the top of the page. Click on the link “Sign up as an artist”. Fill in the contact information - first name, last name, address, country, telephone number, email address and username for the IAR. (Please put no spaces between the numbers of the telephone). Press Submit.
2. Enter Your Username and Password
Your username and password will be sent to the email address you provided. Go to your email address, collect your username and password and return to the login section of the IAR Gallery. Enter your username and password in the fields provided and press login.
If you are already a Gallery Member, but have forgotten your password, simply enter your email address in the email box and click on the remind me button. Your password will be sent to you email address directly.
3. Artist Login Area
You will now see your individual login area. Only you, and the IAR
administrator, have access to this area. No one else can enter information
here. The first information on the page is the information already given by
you. This information includes your First name, Last name, Subscription expiry
date, address, country, telephone and email.
The second set of information is your contact information to be published online
and available to any person that searches the IAR database. You can chose to be
contacted in any way you wish – by post, phone, email, website, through a
gallery – or not at all.
You must provide as a minimum a phone number or email address.
Finally there is your biographical information. Again, you can fill in only the
fields you wish but obviously the more information the better. You can write as
much text as you wish in each individual field. The headings are – Date of
Birth, Classification, Website, Qualifications, Solo Exhibitions, Group
Exhibitions, Awards, Press Coverage, Collections, Societies, Artists Skills.
The ‘classification’ criteria is used by individuals who are searching the
database for art using the search function of the IAR Gallery. When you have
completed all the fields, please press the submit button at the bottom of the
page.
4. Artist Portrait
To upload an image of the artist themselves, click on the Artist Portrait link
at the top of the page. Click on the 'browse' button to find the image on your
computer's C: drive and then click on 'upload'.
5. Create Gallery
At the top of the page, click on the text button marked ‘create gallery’ to
upload images into your individual gallery.
Index of Artists | Bibliography | Gallery
You will be taken to the following page
The numbers 1 to 18 in the boxes at the top of the page refer to the individual
images in your gallery. The empty yellow square signifies that there is no
image which currently corresponds to the image number (Image 1). This will be
the case when you are creating a new gallery (ie. no images have yet been
uploaded). Click on the empty picture frame. You will now be taken to the image
uploader for your first picture.
Type in the information regarding the image: its title; select a medium from the
drop down menu; if the picture is for sale click on price and submit the price;
enter the picture’s dimensions; and its date of completion. The text related
information is now complete.
To select the digital file to be uploaded to the IAR Gallery click on the BROWSE
button.
This will open a dialogue box in which you must select the directory and folder
where the image is stored on your computer. Select the image you wish to upload
by double clicking on it. The file name and directory should now appear in the
Image File box at the bottom of the main screen and the pop-up box will
automatically disappear. To upload the image simply click on the upload button.
The image will then be uploaded from your computer to the IAR Gallery. Depending
on the image size, and you internet connection speed, this can take between 5
and 30 seconds per image. Once the upload has been successfully completed, the
image will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. To upload the next
image, click on the number 2 in the box at the top of the screen.
Repeat the steps as set out above.
Only .JPG format images are supported on the IAR Gallery.
Please note the following:
1. To replace an old image in the gallery with a new image, it is necessary
first to delete the old image. First, find the old image to be deleted by
clicking on the numbers 1 to 18 in the boxes. When the old image to be deleted
appears on the screen click on the image. Next you will be taken to the image
uploader for this picture. Click on the delete button. The old image, and
related text information, is now deleted from the Gallery. Then proceed to
upload a new image and relevant text as before.
2. To view your complete Gallery, click on the ‘preview live gallery’ at the
top of the screen. This will open a separate dialogue box. To close this box,
click on the small’x’ on the very top right of the pop-up screen. Index of
Artists | Bibliography | Gallery | Preview Live Gallery
3. The IAR Gallery only supports .jpg image files. Other image files will not
be accepted by the database and your upload attempt will fail.
4. You can change text information simply by typing in the text boxes next on
the right of the relevant image, but after writing in the information, you must
click on the upload button for the information to be sent from your computer
over the internet to the IAR Gallery.
5. You can upload new images and change specific text content as often as you
like.
