Thank you to all who have signed the IAR Appeal to Save the Beit Paintings!

Five masterpieces, including two Rubens, were left in trust for the benefit of the Irish people by Sir Alfred and Lady Beit.

Your support for the Irish Art Review’s Appeal on the Beit Paintings has resulted, so far, in the following paintings being saved for the nation.

em>Head of a Bearded Man by Rubens and A Village Kermesse Near Antwerp by David Teniers the Younger have been purchased by Irish donors and will be donated to the National Gallery of Ireland. Negotiations for the purchase and donation of Adoration of the Shepherds by Adriaen Van Ostade are ongoing.

Without your support, and that of so many others who took the trouble to join the Appeal, there is not the least doubt that those Beit paintings would have been sold and dispersed in London before now.

The fate of the other Beit paintings that were scheduled for auction – Venus and Jupiter by Rubens and The Piazza San Marco looking towards the Basilica by Francesco Guardi – is unclear.

Please continue to support the IAR Appeal to SAVE THE BEIT PAINTINGS.

SAVE THE BEIT PAINTINGS

Hello

These Old Master paintings were left in trust for the benefit of the Irish people by Sir Alfred and Lady Beit. They form part of a collection that has been described as ‘the pride of Ireland’s heritage’.

Please add my name to the IAR petition to halt the sale of these pictures and to keep the Beit paintings in Ireland.
