As a young professional working in the Arts and Culture sector, I aspire to share my ideas and capabilities within the creative heritage industry, designing new ways of connecting and sharing Histories, Arts and Culture.
My collection acts as a bridge connecting the contemporary local textile industry with its rich heritage, providing an authentic connection to the Irish Linen Industry and its production. Using reclaimed Irish Damask Linen, I intend to support the revival of appreciation for the textile.
Pattern placement has been utilised to highlight the almost hidden designs in the reclaimed linen. Designing my own fabric pattern inspired by historical linen designs conveys the detailed work that can often be overlooked. Heroing the makers of the past, celebrating their trade through the means of my women’s wear collection.
