My work explores domestic space and its complexity of understanding in relation to domestic abuse. I work in socially engaged collaborative practice, liaising closely with the West Cork Women Against Violence Project, an agency which provides support and services for women who have lived with domestic abuse. My moving image work combines real domestic space with the metaphorical domestic spaces of dolls houses, once used as children's toys. These connect to memory and childhood expectations, whilst referencing specific design eras and crucial time frames in domestic abuse law. Spoken word investigates the difficult legal language of court documentation. This work is shown in the confines of a car, addressing feelings of enclosure, entrapment and independent mobility issues. My sculptural forms are made with donated personal belongings of abuse survivors and natural Irish beeswax, incorporating embodiment of experience, ritual and healing
