Hannah is a recently graduated 4th year product design student from TU Dublin. She is originally from South Africa living in Co. Dublin.
The goal of this project was redesign the emergency trauma cervical collar or neck brace, designed to stabilize neck and spinal injuries. It was named the Tula Collar.
The Tula collar is a conformable, easily adjustable user-friendly cervical collar designed to be placed correctly every time. Cervical collars on the market currently, even though highly adjustable, are not incredibly conformable or intuitive to place. This causes major secondary issues developed by patients. The Tula collar aims at tackling these issues with the overall objective of reducing death and disability related to these medical devices. The Tula collar offers a superior form of cervical stabilization and immobilization when compared to its competitors. The product does this due to its unique design features described in the following pictures.
