Given that the oceans make up over seventy percent of the planet, it makes sense that the ocean and those who call it their home are some of the first to be affected by humanity’s damaging actions to our natural world and the climate.
This project seeks to inspire a love of the ocean through illustration in the form of a logbook, a tapestry and a mixed media typographic sail, and to prompt consideration of ocean habitats as areas we need to care about and protect.
As well as being a love letter to the ocean, this project also feels like a bit of a time capsule.
I hope this body of work will convey the feeling I have when I’m beside the sea and the love I hold for the ocean. This is my ocean as I know and love it. Who knows how long it will stay this way.
