Irish Arts Review would like to congratulate photographer Richard Mosse who has just won the covetable Prix Pictet Photography award of €92,000. He wins for his latest body of work entitled Heat Maps. Mosse’s work was chosen from a shortlist of twelve artists currently on view at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London until 28 May from where it will tour extensively. Expect to see it at the Gallery of Photography in spring 2018. In the forthcoming summer edition of Irish Arts Review, 2 June, Anthony Haughey reviews Incoming – Richard Mosse’s new video and artist’s book which explores the continuing tragedy of migrants attempting to cross European borders. Mosse who is widely admired for going beyond the clichés of war reporting was born in 1980 in Ireland and is based in New York. In 2013, he represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale with The Enclave, a six-channel video installation that utilized 16mm infrared film.
