Triskel Arts Centre showcases Diana Kingston’s first solo show in Cork for twelve years. Having grown up on a farm in West Cork, Kingston has returned to her rural roots through her art, encouraged by the memory of the farmyard fowl that formed the backdrop to her childhood. She observed and photographed birds at numerous farmyards and agricultural shows, seeking the moment when a bird’s personality and character is most evident. The fish paintings in the show were inspired by Kingston’s visits to Bullock Harbour. These contrasting studies have been completed using a variety of media including oil, gesso, charcoal and conté crayons on canvas, board and paper.
