Joseph Mallord William Turner’s magnificent watercolours have their annual hanging through January at the National Gallery of Ireland in ‘Turner & Place: Landscapes in Light and Detail’. Topographical drawings by the English artist Francis Place (1647–1728) show alongside Turner this year. Elsewhere in the gallery, eight 16th-century paintings of the Madonna and Child with St John the Baptist, restored over a ten-year period, are on display in ‘Christ and his Cousin: Renaissance Rediscoveries’.
