As someone who has grown up in the foster care system and lived in a country different from the one I was born in, I have spent much of my life navigating questions of identity, culture, and belonging. These experiences deeply inform my creative voice and were the foundation for my graduate collection. My collection draws inspiration from the silhouettes and textures of traditional Polish costumes reflecting my heritage while incorporating textiles that evoke the landscapes of Ireland, the place I now call home. Through knit, weave, and embroidery, I explore the intersection of memory, displacement, and connection, using craft as a way to reconcile two cultural identities. This work is also rooted in sustainability, as I aim to honour tradition while embracing contemporary practices that care for the environment. I take pride in pushing fabric and fibres to their limits, exploring both structural and aesthetic possibilities. Whether sculpting unconventional shapes, layering textures, or experimenting with non-traditional materials, I constantly challenge myself and my textiles redefining what fabric can communicate and become. Looking ahead, I aspire to combine embroidery, knit, natural dyeing, and sustainable methods with innovative techniques that challenge the fashion-textile relationship. My degree has given me the skills, vision, and confidence to keep pushing creative boundaries and to ensure textiles remain a medium for both storytelling and change.
