My work is based around the need for protection. With the rise of far-right elements and the increase of persecution for minority groups, particularly trans people, I wanted to create something to serve as reassurance to the wearer and a warning to the observer. Inspired by both traditional armour styles and elements of punk subculture, particularly zines, I created a series of pieces designed to give power to the wearer through its styling and weight. I utilised 3D printing for larger modular pieces and casting for more bespoke silver rings. My aim is for the pieces to invite discussion and imbue the wearer with confidence. I’ve created work that holds a message and simultaneously provides the user with a sense of protection and a canvas to present themselves confidently.
