As a knitwear designer I am heavily inspired by various parts of the world and femininity. Absorbing the colour from the world around, and incorporating it into my work, or interpreting shapes to make punchcards with. I enjoy testing endless techniques and colourways through sampling until I find what suits my work the best and expresses me the most. I like to keep my material choice natural and have it come from renewable sources, therefore not have a negative impact on the environment unless unavoidable. My initial ideas come from places I have been and visited, or even a lifestyle or state of being. After collecting photographs, I often paint watercolor paintings to then base my knit techniques and colours off, expressing my creative process and allowing me to tell a story from idea to garment that is visually beautiful and unique to me. I work my paintings and imagery into my fashion sketches, so they interpret the shapes, colour, and textures I see. The techniques and textures I plan to use often change once I start experimenting with sampling. Colour is crucial to me; I like to have quiet neutral colours which are soft and complement each other to be calm and serene. My most recent collection has been inspired by misty forests. Working on the linker and both single and double bed brother knitting machines to create garments that are bold yet delicate. The silhouettes and techniques I have used stand out but are calming and expose the ethereal beauty of the female body. I have used greens lambswool to be kind and soft on the skin and kind to the environment by not releasing microplastics when washed or using oils during the manufacturing process, I did however use brushed acrylic as I found lots leftover instead of wasting it and buying more yarn.
