My work explores the tension between figurative representation and abstracted expression, capturing the nuanced evolution of perception and emotion. I begin with figurative foundation drawings in watercolour and oil pastel, based on the human form and the familiar landscapes of everyday life. These elements serve as anchors of what is known and understood.I am fascinated by how emotional depth can be conveyed through colour, form, and texture. My paintings aim to evoke this complexity, inviting viewers to engage with both the emotional and perceptual layers of the work. Titles inspired by musical elements, formed the rhythm and harmonies I grew up immersed in, influence my approach to painting—much in the same way a melody can evoke emotion, I strive for my paintings to resonate with the viewer on a deeper, emotional level. This is the foundation of my artistic practice, a space where the figurative and abstract co-exist, reflecting the complexities of human experiences.
