I am a visual artist whose work is increasingly centered on photography as a way of approaching memory, place and what remains after time has passed. I am drawn to domestic spaces, family histories, objects left behind and the traces of everyday life. Through the camera, I look at how houses, materials and bodies can hold memories that are fragile, layered and often difficult to put into words. After many years living in Ireland, my recent return to Portugal has brought a new urgency and intimacy to my work. I have begun revisiting places connected to my childhood, especially the now derelict family home where I grew up. It has changed, and so have I, but it still holds something of the lives once lived there. My work begins in that encounter: between what remains, what has altered, and what comes back to us when we return.
