I am a contemporary artist living and working in County Limerick, Ireland. My practice spans painting, photography, and sculpture. Inspired by the natural environment, especially the movement of water – rivers, waterfalls, and tidal systems – my work explores the concept of flow as both a natural phenomenon and as an embodied human experience. Grounded in phenomenological thinking, my practice emphasises material presence and lived encounter. Through the use of inks, watercolours oils, acrylics, and more I experiment by juxtaposing materials, allowing their interactions, viscosities, and behaviours to shape each workpiece. The practice explores how matter behaves, resists, and transforms. Organic forms and dynamic gestures emerge through an intuitive process-led approach that balances control and chance. Working across small and large-scale formats, I create works and installations that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture, acting on the space through colour, structure, and movement. I create sculptures using acrylic, ink and watercolour on polymer-coated Yupo paper. I allow pigment to flow freely across the non-absorbent surface, where colours merge, separate and accumulate through processes that resist control. The amorphous forms that emerge through a dialogue between intention and chance, reveal unexpected colour relationships and organic structures. Heat is introduced as a transformative force, interacting with the polymer surface to bend, distort and perforate the paper, transmuting the two-dimensional support into ethereal sculptural forms. This sequence of water, pigment, air and fire echoes an alchemical process in which ordinary materials are transformed into objects that appear simultaneously fragile and resilient, familiar yet mysterious. Transformation is a metaphor for the continual flux of natural systems and human experience.
