I am a multidisciplinary artist from Laois. My practice explores the complex nature of symbiotic relations, taken from the Greek word "symbiosis," meaning "living together." I research the categories of relationships which are Mutualism, Parasitism and Commensalism exploring if relationships can ever be equal or is one always benefiting from another. Do we become one, or are we separated only to cause ripples on each other's lives? I explores if we are formed by consuming parts of those around us, what it is to be known and who are we if not to be consumed. I work across drawing, painting and sculpting, collaborating with the material while employing the processes of heating, cooling, pressing, molding, and casting. Taking material and/or found objects, manipulating them to create a work in flux. The individual parts of the work are all dependent on each other as one, where a source of tension lingers within the work but also lies with the observer who comprehends the potential risks and consequences.
