My practice explores memory, institutional history, care, and the traces left behind within places and objects. Working across installation, photography, drawing, text, archival material, and thread, I examine how histories are carried through spaces, gestures, and acts of remembrance. Rooted within County Cavan, my current research focuses particularly on St Felim’s Hospital and Cullyeenan Old Chapel, exploring how these sites continue to hold layered social, emotional, and historical significance within the local community. My practice is informed by both personal and collective memory, particularly stories connected to women, domestic care, grief, labour, and remembrance. Through gathering photographs, found texts, oral histories, and hand-drawn imagery, I construct installations that function as fragmented archives or visual maps. Thread becomes both a physical and symbolic material within the work, suggesting connection, lineage, repair, and the invisible relationships between people and place. Drawing also remains central to my practice, particularly detailed floral studies based on flowers left on graves, which act as quiet symbols of devotion, offering, and care. Rather than presenting fixed historical accounts, I aim to create spaces for reflection, allowing viewers to navigate fragments of image, text, and material in their own way. Through this process, I consider how local histories continue to exist within contemporary memory, and how ordinary gestures can carry emotional and historical weight across generations.
