I am inspired by Ireland’s rich cultural heritage, having grown up in rural West Cork. My work draws on the strenuous and slow paced life that shaped previous generations. Working with natural materials like willow I explore the relationship between place, tradition, and making. My thesis focused on Irish indigenous basketry, and through this research I developed a deeper appreciation for how closely our lives were tied to the land and the cycle of the seasons. This continues to inform my sculptural work, connecting contemporary practice with Ireland’s material heritage.
