My collection Whimsical Wish is inspired by the curiosity, imagination and joy of childhood. Through my designs I explore the importance of holding onto your childhood spark as we grow older. Because why should we dull or spark as we grow up? I want my work to remind people that creativity, playfulness that should never be left behind. Growing up in rural Donegal has influenced my practice, I combine Irish textile heritage with a contemporary perspective reimagining traditional materials through bold colour, tactile surfaces and nostalgic design. Beading, embroidery and fabric manipulation play a central role in my work, creativity garments that invite both visual and sensory interaction. Sustainability is at the heart of the creative process by using remnant fabric , making use of small cut offs all while encouraging more thoughtful consumption. I design each piece to be treasured, creating garments with emotional value that are made to be worn, loved and kept, rather than being treated as disposable fashion. I believe storytelling and craftsmanship can limit clothing going to landfill.Through Whimsical Wish, I hope to create clothing that sparks, nostalgia, happiness and comfort. Encouraging people to reconnect with the importance and dress like no one is watching.My work reflects my belief that fashion is more than clothing it’s a way of telling stories and using fashion as an extension of their creative identity.
