My work explores the intimacies unseen in sports as I look to hone in on individual and pairings of players in the act of playing in order to show a delicate side to the game, while still showcasing the passion and conflict that is always there. In the process of making these works I found that the locations these players inhabit also change when the sport is not actively being played in the sacred space of the football pitch, with these images I’m showing the reserved space of a local ground and how it can be held to an almost religious standing as the statues of goalposts always remain intact. Collectively all the works offer another perspective in the world of football and a new lens in which to see the game, removing the noise and excitement that comes with it revealing a much more intimate experience.
