I am a 22-year-old artist and animator from Limerick with a passion for storytelling and worldbuilding. I have always loved drawing and writing, and my animated work is a natural collaboration of the two. Narrative exists at the core of all of my art, but specifically my graduate film 'Landfall'. I am always ambitious with the stories I want to tell, and 'Landfall' is no different. I dive into the grand genres of fantasy and science fiction, which allow for awe-inspiring aesthetics and settings, and through these I explore themes of time, responsibility, environmentalism, and generational impact. Inspired by the formative films of my childhood, ‘Landfall’ unites the charming nostalgia of 2D animation and the whimsical mystique of old fantasy. Utilising two visually distinct styles of frame-by-frame animation, the film tells two chapters of the protagonist's life at once, taking the audience on a journey through time and space as a puzzle puts itself together. By knitting together the past and present, I confront the cycles of history and reflect on humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
