My current work is looking at themes of vulnerability in the human figure and uncertainty in the painting process. I am exploring contemporary portraits with a particular interest in the line between figurative and abstraction in painting. The current work is diaristic in a way, and painting for me is a way to react to the things that are happening around me. The people I paint are important to me. Friends, family and people around me. My work is based on lived experiences as a starting point. My current work is also interested in the fragmented and showing the process and the time in the work. To paint over areas and push work to the point of almost undoing it.
