I am Berta Mars, a photographer and videographer based in Dublin, Ireland. I was born and raised in a little town in the middle of the mountains near Barcelona, Spain. Being in contact with nature and close to people from my hometown, helped me develop a passion for visual storytelling, which informs my practice as a photographic artist. In the Loudest Silence, I explored a generation following a way of life that is slowly disappearing as our world becomes more interconnected and fast-paced. With a greater sense of mortality and the passage of time, I intended to document the relationship between collective and personal memories. Merging with the present to reconnect with the roots of a freer life where the subjects breath in tandem with the land, this project is also a portraiture of a nostalgic perspective of my own childhood represented through the landscape.
