My name is Caoimhe Powell, I am a fashion design graduate who specialises in knitwear. My collection “What Came Before” focuses on forgotten traditions from bygone Ireland. I wanted to evoke a sense of nostalgia in people by bringing old Irish techniques to modern day fashion. I would love for people from everywhere to feel proud of their culture and identity. I included Irish knitting techniques and silhouettes inspired by traditional Irish tailoring to tell a story of Ireland's deep history and the wildness of Irish nature. All materials in my collection are natural fibres all locally sourced to support the Irish textile industry. The wool for this collection is in sponsorship with Donegal Yarns who I am deeply grateful for their guidance.
