“Submerge” is a collection of silk fashion textile prints inspired by the kaleidoscopic worlds found deep underwater and the threats these habitats face. Coral reefs are some of the most colourful and diverse landscapes but with warming water temperatures they’re starting to lose their biodiversity due to coral bleaching and degradation. Through intricate ink drawings and bled coloured backdrops my prints celebrate the natural beauty found in these landscapes and highlights the fragility of these ecosystems. Inspired by dresser crabs and their gravitation towards shiny objects I explored sustainable ways of creating a reflective effect within my collection. I sourced plant based glitters and fabrics woven with metallic threads. I aim to be sustainable by designing for longevity, creating timeless and high quality occasion-wear garments that are treasured. and passed down through generations
