I am an Irish photographic artist based in Dublin. My work addresses the impact of Ireland’s historical and political issues on women’s lives. My artistic practice explores themes of gender, memory, and the production of history. This work, 'Tent of Blue', reflects on the trauma and moral judgement surrounding Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries, where women were imprisoned under religious and societal condemnation. Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Ballad of Reading Gaol, the work navigates the tension between despair and the faint hope of reform, offering a visual testimony to the abuse endured. It serves as a call for remembrance and a warning against the dangers of unchecked institutional power.
