Originally from Cork and now based in County Clare, I am a contemporary artist working across expanded painting and printmaking. I recently graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Painting from the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD), marking an exciting new chapter in my artistic practice. The landscapes of the west of Ireland, particularly its lakes, are central to my work. I am drawn to the mutable qualities of water and to the blurred threshold where water meets land, where reeds soften and obscure the boundary between the two. This shifting edge becomes a site of quiet transformation, where reflection, growth, and atmosphere intermingle. Moving between representation and abstraction, observation and sensation, my work does not seek to depict the landscape literally but to evoke its essence. My practice is rooted in an exploration of process and materiality. Laser cutting plays a key role, functioning as both a generative and mark-making tool within my print-based approach. This is complemented by an ongoing investigation into Japanese sumi ink drawing, which has deepened my sensitivity to gesture, rhythm, and the expressive potential of line. Together, these methods create works that seek a sense of balance, subtlety, and refinement. Before returning to fine art, I spent many years working in graphic design, an experience that continues to inform my attention to composition and visual clarity while allowing my current practice to embrace experimentation, tactility, and the unpredictable qualities of natural processes. Through my work, I invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural environment as an immersive and emotional experience.
