I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Limerick. I use autoethnography as my primary form of research. Autoethnography involves using self-reflection and photography to explore anecdotal and personal experience, which is then connected back to wider cultural, political, and social meanings and understandings.I usually base the composition of my paintings on old magazine covers, records and posters but change the subject matter to relate to an event that has happened in my life. Common themes in my work include classical music, cinema, and tongue-in-cheek humour. My work is a means of transforming these commercial images into a fine art.I have had my work displayed in galleries throughout Ireland including the Hugh Lane Gallery, the Ulster Museum, Limerick City Gallery of Art, IMMA and the High Lanes Gallery. In December 2021, my work was exhibited in the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) as a finalist of the RDS Visual Art Awards. My exhibition acted as a timeline of quarantine, and was projected through paintings and sound.I am also a classical musician and have performed throughout Ireland and abroad. I was the leader of the cello section in Trinity Orchestra, and in 2019 performed ‘Totentanz’ for piano and orchestra by Franz Liszt as the soloist. I have played in venues across Ireland, Europe and Great Britain including the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
