I am a knitwear designer with a practice-led approach to design. I am inspired by innovation and creativity. I work with a variety of different fibres and techniques to explore the bounds of knitwear design. My collections often follow themes of identity and self-discovery. I work from initial ideas through to sampling, design and final production. I have strong technical skills in pattern drafting, and convert my patterns to knitting charts by hand on graph paper. I work on both domestic and industrial knitting machines across a variety of gauges from 5gg to 12gg to create a diverse range of fabrics for my collections. I use Adobe Photoshop to create pixel designs that can be translated into knitting patterns through the AYAB software with a particular interest in lace and fairisle designs. My graduate collection was influenced by the notion of being lucky. I wanted to explore superstitions and the idea of making your own luck as an emerging designer. This collection features garments with thoughtful yarn choices to best showcase the knitted structures of the fabric. This collection was made with the intention of bringing good luck to the wearer, while also being practical and wearable.
