My artistic practice explores our continuing relationship with wood. This substance is familiar to us as building timbers, firewood, flooring, and furniture. As a material, it creates a sense of warmth and shimmer. My work materially researches wood and its relationship to painting and sculpture. The dismantling of the joints of the wooden frame, which involves inherited traditional techniques, acts with energy, like a magnetic force between them. These reduced elements give space and time for thought, allowing a reimagining of an object removed from expectations.
