My work is concerned with the ocean, paying particular attentionto the air water interface - the transitional point where sea and airmeet. This preoccupation is informed by my regular immersion inthe sea.I would like the viewer to question their perceptions and awarenessof life, all which is seen and unseen, so that they may be promptedto reflect on their own impact and interactions with the naturalworld, in particular the ocean and bodies of water. Using a variety of media including paint, dye, video and photography I create two dimensional wall hangings, three dimensional objects and moving paintings. Purity and honesty of materials and the play of light are important aspects of my work.I recognise the ocean as a being in and of itself and the aim of this work is to encourage a sense of custodianship for the ocean, our environment and the delicate balance in which we all now sit.
