My practice is rooted in documentary-based photography, with a focus on everyday environments and the often overlooked details that reveal traces of human presence. Through an observational approach, I photograph spaces shaped by routine, and belonging, paying close attention to how meaning emerges through sustained and repeated encounters with a place over time. I am particularly interested in quiet, transitional, or peripheral spaces where subtle gestures and material traces suggest human activity without direct representation. Originally from Finland and now based in Ireland, my work is informed by the experience of moving between countries and negotiating a sense of place across different cultural and geographical contexts. This position has led me to reflect on how memory, familiarity, and lived experience influence the ways we see, interpret, and connect with our surroundings. The contrast and resonance between Finnish and Irish landscapes, sensibilities, and atmospheres continue to shape my visual language. My projects often develop through long-term engagement with a location or subject, allowing for a slower and more reflective mode of image-making. Whether examining relationships between people and their environments or exploring the connections between memory and place, I use photography as a means of investigating how identity is shaped through the spaces we inhabit, revisit, and remember. Repetition, return, and duration are central to my process, enabling a deeper understanding of both physical and emotional landscapes. Alongside my personal practice, I have gained experience working within community and applied photographic contexts. This has strengthened my awareness, as well as my ability to work sensitively within both structured and informal environments. These experiences continue to inform my approach, reinforcing an attentiveness to context, collaboration, and the responsibilities of representation.
