Artists and tutors alike have described me as an adhoc queer artist. I can’t seem to disagree. I’m a boots on the ground, grass roots photographer. I work both digital and analog. My collection also includes archival sculpture and print. As well as this, I work in archive journalism and historical data to back up my work. I have let it be known to the world that my artistry is intimate yet universal. My practice revolves around portraiture, social movements and gender roles. I aim to be as intimate and true to the people I capture as possible, allowing the viewer to experience the lives of these people. My job, as self described, is humanizing those ostracized by society. I am widely inspired by Nan Goldin. My current series - ‘HOUSE OF MEMPHIS’ strips people metaphorically of the labels that we put on them. It focuses on community, on work behind the scenes. I am allowed in spaces that simply haven’t been taken into consideration before; it’s an honour.
