I'm Molly Elmore, a textile artist specialising in embroidery. I first fell in love with textiles while studying fine art and began to use fabric as my canvas. Developing contemporary artwork, I naturally progressed into textile design. Through the fusing of fine art and embroidery, I manipulate repurposed fabrics to create contemporary and tactile artworks. Before my degree, I drew inspiration from the Irish landscape and developed an understanding of drawing colour from the world around me. I now use the same processes in my current work, to develop body of work focused around colour theory grounded in the concept of wellness. I explore therapeutic practices such as darning, dyeing and other hand embroidery techniques. My work explores practices that allow me to experiment with layering and fabrics that contain memory. The samples I create serve as a form of therapy and because my work is process led, the body of work I create is free to grow and breathe with me.
