Wallis investigates the ambivalent relationship between the sick body and medical practice, by engaging with her own body and related medical experiences. As a result of this relationship, competing meanings of fear, hope, control, pain, relief and uncertainty are probed. Photography acts as her visual language to communicate and control uncertainty, arousing thoughts on what it is to be human.
