The SEE-THROUGH collection is a deeply personal project, born from my own experience of an eating disorder and my long journey of recovery. For a long time, I knew I wanted to tell my story, as well as showcase the experiences of many others struggling with these often hidden illnesses. In the summer of 2025, I visited Athens and was deeply moved by the Parthenon. Despite centuries of destruction, loss, and transformation, it remains standing, like a phoenix born from the ashes. For me, it became a symbol of resilience and rebirth, just like my own recovery. This connection became the foundation of my collection, which unites themes of healing, strength, and renewal. By studying the history, art, and culture of Ancient Greece, I developed silhouettes inspired by classical architecture and mythology. The structured corsets were inspired by the Parthenon's columns, while the flowing layers recall the draped garments of Greek goddesses. With the SEE-THROUGH project, I was able to combine my passion for corsets and wedding gowns, creating what I believe is an alternative bridal collection that celebrates transformation. The colour palette naturally flows from the emotional context of the work. Muted beige and lilac tones reflect bruises and vulnerability, while grey and black express loneliness and a hollow feeling. White symbolises purity and rebirth. Sustainability was also central to my process, and I chose to work exclusively with dead stock fabrics, including cotton, silk organza, satin, and lace. Most of them are also natural fabrics. The contrast between structured and delicate materials reflects the tension between fragility and strength that is present throughout the collection. Transparency is at the core of SEE-THROUGH, both visually and conceptually. Through sheer fabrics and exposed construction details, I sought to reveal what is often hidden. My intention is not to romanticise eating disorders, but to honestly address their reality. With this collection, I hope to raise the ED awareness and celebrate the courage it takes to recover and move forward.
