An exhibition of new works by sculptor Patrick O’Reilly at The Culloden draws on the Japanese term ‘Mono No Aware’, which translates as the ‘pathos of things’ or ‘a sensitivity to ephemera’. The phrase conveys a sense of wistful sadness about the passing and impermanence of time and objects, and the reality of life – a theme that O’Reilly translates into this new body of work in bronze, resin and stone.
