My practice is rooted in a deep fascination with Irish fashion, craft, and textile heritage. I am inspired by the rich history of Irish craftsmanship and the extraordinary role it has played in shaping our cultural identity and sustaining communities through industries such as linen and Aran knitting. These traditions are not only examples of exceptional skill but also represent an important part of Ireland's story that I feel deserves greater recognition. Through my work, I explore how these traditional crafts can be reimagined for a contemporary audience. I am interested in preserving their legacy while challenging how they are perceived, creating fashion that feels modern, playful, and relevant without losing its connection to the past. I see my practice as a conversation between heritage and innovation, where historic techniques become the foundation for new forms of expression. Textile experimentation is at the heart of my process. Working primarily with screen printing, knitting, and pleating, I investigate texture, structure, and material transformation to develop garments that celebrate craftsmanship in unexpected ways. By combining traditional techniques with contemporary design, I aim to create work that encourages a renewed appreciation for Ireland's textile traditions and demonstrates their continued relevance within fashion today.
