Look Closer is a collection of zines (small-scale magazines) that capture a view of modern daily life, focusing on moments that often go unnoticed. I was inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which embraces imperfection and recognises that everything is in a constant state of change and movement. Although rooted in tradition, I wanted to explore wabi-sabi through a modern perspective. To show this, I collaged photography, mark-making and type. Through my project, I invite you to slow down, look closer and be surprised by what has always been there.My project is aimed at young people who want to spend more time engaging with physical media and less time consuming digital content. In a society that often values speed, perfection and constant stimulation, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. My zines are meant to counteract that by encouraging young people to slow down and find beauty in things that are imperfect, unfinished and always changing. By capturing the charm found in ordinary places, I hope to inspire more appreciation for the world around us and the moments that go unnoticed.
