‘Boats and Barns’ by Hugh Barr at the National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, Castlebar is inspired by the artist’s maritime experiences. Exploring the connection between memory, craft and the built environment, Barr draws on his time as a crew member on a Galway hooker and his service with the RNLI in an exhibition that shows his appreciation for maritime tradition and the skill of boatbuilding.
