Artists have long looked to the sea as a source of inspiration. The ocean invites contemplation of its vastness and mutability, encouraging poets, writers and artists to reflect on its mysteries. ‘Now Wakes the Sea’ at the Glucksman Gallery, UCC, presents works by Irish and international contemporary artists whose work explores ideas of submersion and salvaging, the lure of the ocean for seafarers and explorers, and the secrets hidden in its unseen depths. Featured artists include Tacita Dean, Marcel Dinahet, Sean Lynch, Maria McKinney, Conrad Shawcross, Lucy Skaer, Janaina Tschäpe, Andreas Kindler von Knobloch and Anna Zacharoff.
