Majella O’Neill Collins lives and works on Sherkin and her experience of island living is a strong influence on her artistic practice. For her exhibition ‘Allegory of the MV Alta’ at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre, Collins draws on the journey of the merchant vessel which was abandoned at sea 1,400 miles south-east of Bermuda, and which, in February 2020, washed ashore at Ballycotton, Co Cork.
