Marking the centenary of the death of Terence MacSwiney (1879-1920), a new exhibition at the Crawford Art Gallery, ‘Citizen Somewhere | Citizen Nowhere’, focuses on the international legacy of MacSwiney’s hunger strike and death, and the idea of nation as an imagined state, to which his own writings sought to aspire. A range of contemporary artists feature, including Margaret Clarke, Willie Doherty, Rita Duffy, Anthony Haughey, Elaine Hoey, Seán Keating, John Lavery, Brian Mac Domhnaill and Séamus Murphy as well as Bhagat Singh (India), Guo Morou (China) and Marcus Garvey (West Indies and US).
Citizen Somewhere | Citizen Nowhere: until 31 January
