‘The Return’, a collection of works by Paul Proud at Lavelle Art Gallery in Clifden, marks the artist’s return to Connemara after seventy years. Proud started out as an apprentice fine art restorer in Dublin. Long associated with the gallery, Proud brings a rich heritage of painterly skills to his work, gleaned from his practical study of 20th-century Irish artists such as Maurice MacGonigal and Letitia Marion Hamilton.
