A multi-media exhibition by Dutch-born but Dublin-based artist Anita Groener entitled ‘Citizen’ will feature in the Butler Gallery in Kilkenny. The work in the exhibition explores the phenomenon of, and our consciousness about refugees. Homelessness is ubiquitous in the world yet homeless people are perceived as invisible. A central theme running through Groener’s work is a consideration of home and displacement as situated within modern geopolitical realities. Scale, physical presence and the nature of human endeavor are present throughout. Last year the artist completed a commission on site for Facebook’s European Headquarters in Dublin.
