‘Solas’ at the Hunt Museum is a travelling exhibition by the Glass Society of Ireland, highlighting the intersections between glass, light and design. Light and glass have long been intertwined, and glass offers the designer a rich set of implements beyond the physicality of the medium itself. Also at the Hunt and part of a travelling exhibition, ‘Peripherals’ by Sarah Browne is a thirteen minute long HD video projection accompanied by five sculptures which explores the language and economies of women’s work. Browne’s film is part of ‘Still, We Work,’ an Askeaton Contemporary Arts project commissioned by the National Women’s Council of Ireland.
Solas: 22 October – 8 November;
Peripherals: 12 – 18 October
