Sandblasting is used to create a worn look on denim. This process creates crystalline silica particles, a deadly dust that causes silicosis, an incurable lung disease. Cause And Effect interrogates the mechanisms used by the advertising industry to sell jeans to consumers. Through the use of photomontage, these images reveal the stark reality of labour practices in denim production.
