As a designer entering into the fashion industry in 2026 my design process focuses on creating heirloom, quality, wearable garments, with a particular focus on sustainability through using natural fabrics, ensuring non- toxic biodegradability and minimal impact to soil and marine life. I am committed to creating garments that encourage confidence in the wearer, alongside assurance that each garment is consciously designed and created with the environment in mind. My design process is inspired by Irish folklore and the culture of the island, exploring shapes and textures through fabric manipulation, silhouette and natural dying techniques. The legend of Granuaile inspired the concept behind 'At the Precipice' AW'27, my Graduate Collection from Griffith College Dublin. The collection features layerable elevated denim, contemporary silhouettes, heritage textiles, rust dying and various fabric manipulations including a re-imagining of Sybil Connolly's iconic pleating techniques, altogether communicating the rugged cliffs and eroded landscape of Ireland's vast coastline, particularly around Clew Bay and Clare Island- the stronghold of the Pirate Queen Granuaile. 'At the Precipice' clearly illustrates the vision of my label 'Aoibhe Rose' through creating contemporary design for the environmentally conscious customer, who values quality fabrics and Irish design.
