As a printmaker and installation artist, my work explores the deep connection between emotions, play, and comfort, all inspired by my personal journey with a leukaemia diagnosis. Through my core practices, I delve into themes of childhood resilience and the incredible power of creative imagination, especially as a vital tool for young patients navigating similar experiences. I'm really fascinated by how visual language can become a powerful outlet for children who have grown up with these kinds of challenges. I create soft sculptures that actually resemble leukaemia cells, taking on a variety of forms. Using sewing and printmaking, I find myself stepping into the role of a surgeon, examining a patient. This process helps me conceptualise hospital environments, focusing on spaces where play and comfort are essential for recovery. My aim is to break away from the conventional way art is perceived in medical settings, instead reviving that sense of imaginative play that often gets lost during treatment.
