My work this year explores the passage of time. It covers distance, death and memory. I left Poland when I was really young and over the years of being away I saw the change in people I left behind and during each visit they looked different. My great grandfather passed away when I was young and I regret I only had the chance to spend time with him and soak up his wisdom when I was younger. My grandparents moved to Ireland to be close to me but they left people behind that they also love. Parents, a sister, a daughter and their friends. With this work I look at how time fades the memory of the people we used to be and pushes us forward through different stages of our life. I experimented with colour, oil, acrylic paints, ink and pen to express emotion and memory. My work was inspired by our local Sligo landscape and memories of my home in Poland.
